A Visit from The Police

This week we had a real life policeman to visit Foxes and Hedgehogs. We have been asking lots of questions to develop our understanding of the Police. Our writing has greatly developed this week as a result of this as well as our imaginative play!

The Police

This week we have had the exciting investigation of Evil Pea following the story of 'Supertato'. The Evil Pea caused lots of mischief in the classrooms! Superhero Supertato came to the rescue!

There were lots of fantastic police reports written!

In maths the children were learning subtraction and enjoyed being forensic detectives whilst crossing out fingerprints to help them calculate the answers to their subtraction sums. The traffic police were subtracting the number of cars with speeding tickets!

We finished the week by listening to some of the stories that year ones had written.

Doctor's and Nurses

The  children have been learning about how to keep healthy this week. They have helped doctor Dan help his patients who have suffered burnt skin and Sun stroke, by writing some guidelines.
In maths the children have concentrated on addition problems and have enjoyed rolling the dice making towers from the bricks and adding that amount to their friends tower.

In PE the children have  been controlling a ball around their body.

The role play areas have been widely used in  the hedgehogs classroom there is a doctor's surgery and in the foxes room there is a fire engine.

Outside thanks to the short spell of hot weather the role play areas has been turned into an ice cream parlour which was child led.

Spring

The children this week have been looking at signs of spring. We had a couple of little fluffy visitors (chicks) in the
class this week, which gave the children the inspiration for some super writing.

It has been lovely seeing the daffodils growing in our school grounds.
