This week has been totally brilliant. We have been learning about recycling and what happens to some of the rubbish we throw out.
On Monday we read about Peppa Pig in 'Recycling Fun' and looked at photos of bin bags along the side of roads in Lymington, talking about why some houses have more bags than others, why there are different coloured bags, and where they go after they have been taken away. In numeracy we sorted different recycling materials into the correct coloured bins ready to take them all to the recycling bins in Lymington.
Tuesday was 'Art-Activity Day', we made stars to decorate the hall.
On Wednesday the whole school had a bonfire to help clear some of the leaves in our Sensory Garden.
On Thursday we all went on an I-Spy Trail through Lymington to find the Recycling bins and recycle some of our rubbish. It was a great opportunity to get out and about in our community and learn a bit more about our local area. In the afternoon we became marvellous map-makers and created our own maps to show the way from school to the recycling bins.
On Friday we had a visit from a member of the New Forest Council who answered some of our questions about recycling and helped us with some recycling art.
The children have really enjoyed the week and have learnt a lot about their local community, we are very grateful for the parents who were able to come and support our walk, we really wouldn't have been able to do it with out you.
