Senses

For the next few weeks in Reception we will be learning about our five main senses: sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing.

We have started by reading Lucy's Picture, a story all about a girl making a textured collage for her grandpa, who is blind and can't enjoy traditional paintings. The children were really reflective about how much we need and enjoy our sight.

In our role-play we have built our very own Opticians where the children will be able to check one another's eye-sight and 'prescribe' glasses.

The children are also keeping a look out for guide dogs around Lymington. Lucy's grandpa (from the story) has a guide dog called Honey and it is her job to help grandpa and keep him safe when he is 'out and about'.

The opticians role-play area in Reception looks great. The children have been very busy testing each others' eye-sight. I must book an appointment soon:)
