Elmer's Birthday

This week we celebrated Elmer the Patchwork Elephant's Birthday. This brought our Elmer topic to an end and gave us a great opportunity to celebrate all of our great work from the last few weeks.

Some of Elmer's adventures have become our favourite stories at school.

We all loved having a surprise party for Elmer with party games, party food, cards, music, singing and balloons.

Lots of our work is on display in the library, which we felt proud to look at when we changed our books today.

We have really enjoyed making elephants from milk bottles and writing on elephant-shaped paper in tummy time.

In Literacy we made and wrote birthday cards for Elmer and had a go at making up our own Elmer adventures. We acted the stories out with props and a grown up wrote down our story sentences.

In Phonics we have now learnt s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r. We have been using all of these sounds to build words. We are just starting to use words to build up short captions and phrases.
