Family Celebration - Phonics and learning to read

Thank you to all of the parents and wider family members who came to our Family Celebration earlier today. Your support plays such an important role in your child's development and complimenting school learning with activities at home is a sure way to maximise their learning and potential achievement.

Here are a few reminders of what you could do with your sound cards:

- flash through them and support straight recognition
- play hide and seek - say the sounds while hunting for a particular sound
- work on letter names as well as sounds
- use 2 or 3 cards to make up words, either real words or nonsense words
- make a word and then see how many rhyming words you can think of
- match the sounds to objects around the house
- find objects around the house that start with a particular sound
