The Gingerbread Man

This weeks topic in Reception was ' The Gingerbread Man' . Dragonflies and Butterflies enjoyed doing lots of story telling and continued their work on puppet shows.
They wrote a shopping list and a recipe for gingerbread men biscuits and enjoyed making their own gingerbread biscuits. The children had to hold onto them to ensure they didn't run away! Our school cook had one that ran off whilst she was cooking them but luckily caught him in the kitchen whilst he was singing "Run, run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me I am the gingerbread man!"

In maths the children have been measuring and developing their mathematical language ' longest, shortest etc.' They used the multilink cubes to measure a variety of things. A few children wanted to find out which was the tallest water bottle and enjoyed setting some challenges in the classroom.
